Letter to the Editor: ISIS makes ‘backward claim’ about Paris attacks

Everyday, we, as people of this world, hope and pray that the world will eventually get safer. Unfortunately, the recent barbaric Paris terror attack strikes this notion at its heart.

My condolences go out to the victims and their grieving families and I pray that they may cope with their suffering.

But, what bothers me more than the attack is the backward claim that ISIS did this in the name of God. Their distorted perception of what God wants could be nothing further from the truth.

In real Islam, the Quran states, ‘Whosoever killed a person… It shall be as if he killed all mankind” (5:33). Along with the verse, the Khalifah of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, could not have said it any better, “…those who seek to justify their hateful acts in the name of Islam are serving only to defame it in the worst possible way.”
