Fazl-e-Umar Award for Writing Excellence

This award, named in honor of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (ra), is given to any member who publishes ten (10) letters to the editor and/or op-eds in any newspaper or magazine during the course of one (1) year, running from July 31st to July 31st.

Sir Chaudhry Zafrullah Khan Award for Writing Excellence

This award, named in honor of Hazrat Sir Chaudhry Zafrullah Khan (ra), is given to any member who publishes seven (7) letters to the editor and/or op-eds in any newspaper or magazine during the course of one (1) year, running from July 31st to July 31st.

Young Writer Awards

Sinaan Younus, 10 years old, in fifth grade, is the youngest Muslim Writers Guild of America writer to have published in a major American Newspaper. He published a letter on African American rights in The Baltimore Sun: 30th most read American newspaper with a daily print circulation of ~ 200,000.

Khalid Hussein published a letter on Thanksgiving and Islam in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; 35th most read American newspaper, daily print circulation ~ 200,000. Khalid Hussein, in sixth grade, is the first “young” Muslim Writers Guild of America member to have published in a major American Newspaper.
