The Islamic holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims from across the globe fast from dusk till dawn, began this month. I will be one of the many proud Muslims enjoying the spiritual and physical blessings of this month.

In addition to personal gains, Ramadan is a month of sacrifice and service to our fellow man. “The Holy Prophet (saw) was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become more generous in Ramadan.”

In the spirit of giving, the Ahmaddiyya Muslim community aims to feed 100,000 Americans in food drives and collect 5,000 pints of blood. The real Islam, the truth that is not seen on television, is that Islam is a religion of humility, peace and love for all.

For an entire month, Muslims will forgo the pleasures and ease of food for the sake of building empathy with those who suffer.

We sacrifice to help others and make the world a better place. This is the true Islam.
