We must work together to end racism in the U.S

Listening to Martin Luther King’s speech on its 50th anniversary reminded me of a sermon of Prophet Muhammad historically known as his “Farewell Sermon.”
In that sermon, Prophet Muhammad stated, “All mankind is from Adam and Eve; an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white.” This was stated 1,400 years ago.
However, it was only due to King’s efforts 50 years ago that America began to follow in suit. While on paper everyone might be equal, we often read about or see on the news stories of people who experience many forms of racism. We as a nation must all work together to bring an end to these remaining slivers of racism in America. It is only then when we can live up to the dreams and expectations of not only Martin Luther King Jr., but also the Prophet Muhammad.
