Eid ul Adha reminds us of our similarities

Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid ul Adha today. This day reminds us that Christians, Jews and Muslims share one thing in common — a religious forefather.

The Prophet Abraham had two sons, Ishmael and Isaac. The prophet Muhammad came from Ishmael’s lineage while Moses and Jesus came from Isaac’s lineage. Despite our religious differences, we must set them aside and remember these similarities.

The Quran stresses this similarity when it commands Muslims to believe in “what has been revealed to Abraham and to Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob and his children, and what was given to Moses and Jesus.”

As 12-year-old American Muslim, I encourage everyone to come together on these similarities.
