During Black History Month, we remembered the efforts that have been and are still being made toward racial harmony. One of the greatest civil rights leaders, Malcolm X, stated, “America needs to understand Islam because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem.”
He said this because the Holy Quran states that the only criteria to judge a person on is righteousness and not race: “We have created you into tribes and sub-tribes that you may recognize one another. Verily, the most honorable among you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most righteous among you.”
Furthermore, the prophet of Islam stated that “a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white except by piety and good action.” Let’s not only commemorate the struggles of the civil rights movement but racial equality and harmony as a whole.
