Once again, unfortunately, there has been senseless violence against our nation’s youth in the recent stabbings at Franklin Regional High School. This time, the violence occurred in our home state of Pennsylvania. First and foremost, I would like to extend condolences to the families of those that were hurt by this tragic event. With God’s mercy, there were no fatalities, but there easily could have been.
“Whoever killed a person … it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and whoso saved a life, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind” (5:33). If this simple Qur’anic principle is followed, there would be very few of these tragic events. Also, the security guard, assistant principal, students and doctors all helped save lives, and they should be commended for controlling the situation. Let us pray that this kind of tragic event never happens again.
