With the holidays around the corner, how must one feel when one moment they’re happily purchasing gourmet chocolate for their families, and the next they’re taken hostage and forced to hold up what is believed to be an ISIS flag.
Because of such militant groups, there is an ongoing trend towards radicalization of youth around the world. As members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) USA, we recognize this concern and strongly condemn such activities, including this latest hostage crisis in Australia. AMYA has also taken steps to curb this radicalization such as an event in New York, which hosted UN delegates from several countries, entitled “Islamic Solutions to Muslim Youth Radicalization.”
With the future eventually falling into the hands of our youth, we need to come together to deal with these misunderstandings of Islam. ISIS is wrong. Their ideas are un-Islamic. And our youth need to be educated about that.
