Muslims condemn Paris terror killings

On the horrific day of Jan. 7, twelve innocent lives were taken in Paris (“Police detain 9 in hunt for Paris attack suspects,” Jan. 8, nj.com). This heinous crime has left the vast majority of the Muslim community in shock and we all send our prayers out to the victims’ families.

Terrorists were angered by previous publications made by the Charlie Hebdo magazine and retaliated in such a manner that was completely un-Islamic and inhumane.

No matter what the circumstances may be, retaliating in such a manner is never acceptable. As Muslims, we condemn the killing of innocents in the name of Islam. The Quran clearly states: “The killing of one is like the killing of all mankind” (5:33). We condemn the perpetrators in the strongest of terms and extend our condolences to the bereaved.
