Islam puts a lot of emphasis on the love between a husband and a wife. They are supposed to be best friends who not only help support each other become better people but also cover the faults of one another.
In fact, the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated: “The best among you are those who are best to their wives.”
As a result, instead of spending one day out of the year caring deeply for our spouses, we should strive every day to be good and fair partners.
A lot of money will be spent this year on Valentine’s Day traditions. If we can spend even a fraction of that money to help our fellow man, wouldn’t that serve as an exemplar of love and compassion for others to follow?
I pray that this can bear fruit one day.
