In the wake of the horrific attacks in London and Manchester, this Muslim-American firmly believes that any cleric who incites violence or hatred should be serially banned. What else needs to be clarified is that the suicidal perpetrators had no connection with the true teachings of Islam. They brutally took innocent lives right at the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, whereas the purpose of the month is to give life to others through charity and good works.
The tragic events make it even more necessary to promote a greater understanding of one another’s beliefs. That is why my Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is hosting an interfaith Ramadan dinner program at our Pittsburgh Mosque (747 South Ave., Wilkinsburg) June 10 at 7 p.m. The program is open to all because we believe the true Islam, as opposed to the deluded version touted by extremists, teaches love for all.
